Fundraising concert tomorrow night<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t fight this alone. We\u2019re here for you,\u201d reads the Alzheimer\u2019s Laval motto. <\/p>\n

The charity helps more than 6,000 Alzheimer\u2019s disease victims in Laval, including more than 700 English-speakers. <\/p>\n

To recognize the help that www.alzheimerlaval.org<\/a> provides to these people\u2014and many times that number of family members and caregivers\u2014Vimont MNA Jean Rousselle visited the organization\u2019s headquarters to present a $1,000 donation that will help it to continue it\u2019s work. <\/p>\n

The contribution was welcome, as Alzheimer\u2019s Laval relies on its own resources and private largesse to finance 42 per cent of its annual budget. <\/p>\n

To meet those needs, it holds a number of fundraising events throughout the year, including a concert tomorrow night in Laval, featuring \u00c9tienne Cousineau, Genevi\u00e8ve Charest, Julie Massicotte, Kim Richardson, Renaud Paradis and the a capella<\/i> quartet Quartom. \u201cAlzheimer\u2019s Laval is a very important organization,\u201d Rousselle told The Suburban. \u201cHeadquartered in Vimont riding, it nonetheless serves all of Laval.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cBesides organizing wonderful activities, it operates a warm and welcoming residence for users, which gives some respite and comfort to the families struck by this terrible illness,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

Rousselle noted that Laval\u2019s demographics mean that Alzheimers will continue to cut an ever-wider swath through the city\u2019s population. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that the population is aging and that more and more people are afflicted by it,\u201d he observed. \u201cAlzheimer\u2019s Laval has a great task ahead of it, which is why I\u2019m pleased to offer it my support.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n
\nAlzhemer\u2019s Laval has steadfastly worked to improve its services to Laval\u2019s non-Francophone community during the past two years. That portion of the population is aging even more rapidly as Laval as a whole.<\/p>\n

Workshops for family members are now provided in English, and its polyglot staff tries to help victims and their families to the best of their abilities.<\/p>\n

\nSinger \u00c9tienne Cousineau, who serves as Alzheimer\u2019s Laval\u2019s goodwill ambassador, will perform with eight other singers, during a concert fundraiser tomorrow night at Salle Andr\u00e9 Mathieu.<\/b><\/div>\n
