The cadets of 690 Lakeshore Squadron, Pointe-Claire, are energized by the Christmas spirit as they are organizing a food drive this week to benefit Christian Action Chretienne (CAC). <\/p>\n

The CAC is an ecumenical project of nine Pointe-Claire congregations helping those with financial needs in the local community, through a food bank, vouchers for specific needs, in helping people to survive difficult economic times. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe CAC was conceived by Father Emmett John, who was the parishioner of John Fisher church a quarter century ago, in the effort of helping those in need. Today, the CAC services a hundred families, and have up to 25 volunteers,\u201d Doris McConnell, Chair, and coordinator told The Suburban.<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a misconception that there is not such a need in our area. The CAC caters to local communities in the city,\u201d said Christian Chan Ying, 2nd vice chair, 690 Lakeshore squadron. <\/p>\n

In the spirit of the season, the 130 cadets are having a small competition to see which of the six groups at the squadron will bring in the most food. <\/p>\n

All the provisions collected will be handed over to the CAC on December 19th at squadron headquarters located at 311 Inglewood, Pointe-Claire. <\/p>\n

\u201cThis helps our cadets to be conscious of the needs of those less fortunate then us, and those that may be going through some hard times. Hopefully this will become an annual event\u201d, added Chan Ying.
