Last week\u2019s wintry snow fall partially buried the city of Ste. Anne de Bellevue\u2019s traditional holiday display that rests just outside of the public library. But the council\u2019s idea\u2014to replace the nativity display in lieu of a sled, tree and presents arrangement\u2014had Mayor Paola Hawa facing a torrent of demands that the nativity scene return.<\/p>\n

Hoping to keep church and state as separate entities, Hawa and council felt that the scene depicting Mary, Joseph and Jesus in the manger was a religious display that the city should avoid making.<\/p>\n

But after receiving numerous calls from citizens and the media alike, Hawa admitted that the replacement display would be replaced for the nativity scene as soon as public works crew were finished with the city\u2019s snow removal operations from last week\u2019s 30 cm snow dump. <\/p>\n

The longtime traditional manger was set up Monday morning.
