This week will mark the end of the third edition of the Master Brewers Competition. Former Beaconsfield resident Daniel Ablenas will pit his own brew the Saison de l\u2019Ouest<\/i> against beers brewed around the world. <\/p>\n

Ablenas lapses into brewer-talk, as he lovingly describes his new beverage. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe Saison de l\u2019Ouest<\/i> is a Belgian Saison, which is a unique brew that combines fruity esters, spicy phenolics and citrus west coast hops,\u201d Ablenas told The Suburban<\/i> in an interview, \u201cI think that my beer is capable of making it to the finals.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cI got my passion for brewing from my Dad, who was a home brewer,\u201d Ablenas explained. \u201cThe history behind the beer comes from Belgium before pasteurization, when people knew that drinking beer was safer than drinking water but did not know why. This beer was invented for seasonal farm workers.\u201d<\/p>\n

After graduating from Concordia with a degree in biochemistry, he put his talents to work as a brewer.<\/p>\n

Until Feb. 15, the public is welcome to taste Ablenas\u2019 creation at Les 3 Brasseurs<\/i> in Dollard des Ormeaux.<\/p>\n

Ablenas wants your feedback. If you like his beer, he would appreciate your thumbs up by voting online at www.maitrebrasseur.les3brasseurs.com<\/a>. Each vote will bring the local brewer closer to the Master Brewer finals in France, where the beers will be tasted by an expert panel of judges.
