{"id":2385,"date":"2012-07-19T09:43:00","date_gmt":"2012-07-19T09:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rf.podcastfixit.com\/index.php\/2012\/07\/19\/pointe-claire-water-plant-slated-for\/"},"modified":"2015-06-01T19:42:04","modified_gmt":"2015-06-01T19:42:04","slug":"pointe-claire-water-plant-slated-for","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newscoverage.org\/index.php\/2012\/07\/19\/pointe-claire-water-plant-slated-for\/","title":{"rendered":"Pointe Claire water plant slated for upgrade"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">\nBy Robert Frank <br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesuburban.com\/\">www.thesuburban.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The West Island will benefit from an upcoming $2.853 million investment by the Montreal Urban Agglomeration.<\/p>\n<p>According to Kirkland mayor John Meaney, \u201cthe money will be spent to purchase valves from Filtram for the Pointe Claire water treatment plant.\u201dThe facility supplies water to several West Island municipalities.<\/p>\n<p>Pointe Claire mayor Bill McMurchie underscored that the establishment no longer belongs to his city.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe plant was bought and paid for&nbsp;by the citizens of Pointe Claire,\u201d Mayor McMurchie continued. \u201cBy legislation it became the property of the urban agglomeration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mayor McMurchie explained that the water treatment plant remains staffed by experienced Pointe Claire employees.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;re the managers,\u201d he told <i style=\"font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;\">The Suburban.<\/i> \u201cWe&#8217;re compensated for their work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir salaries are included in the real cost of water,\u201d he explained. \u201cMunicipalities compensate Pointe Claire according to the amount of water that we provide.\u201d<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Robert Frank www.thesuburban.com The West Island will benefit from an upcoming $2.853 million investment by the Montreal Urban Agglomeration.
