From Oct. 28-31, Tom Jonas will transform his Laval home at 1750 du Portage
\ninto an unmatched display of Halloween
\nghoulishness.<\/p>\n

His objective, he told The Suburban,<\/i> is
\nto attract attention and raise enough
\nmoney to buy three volumetric pumps
\nfor the Montreal Children’s Hospital
\nneonatal intensive care unit<\/a> (NICU).<\/p>\n

\u201cThese machines, which cost $5,000
\napiece, administer intravenous fluids
\nwith great accuracy, which is paramount
\nwhen delivering medicine to extremely
\ntiny, premature infants,\u201d he said. \u201cThe
\nNICU treats about 400 acutely ill infants
\neach year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Besides the familiar Halloween goblins, ghosts, skeletons and coffins, Jonas
\nhas attracted high profile sponsors.<\/p>\n

501st Legion, sanctioned by Lucasfilm, will have Star Wars<\/i> characters on
\nhand to greet young visitors, and a
\nportable photo lab will be set up to let
\nvisitors have their photo taken with one
\nof three popular Marvel characters, the
\nHulk, Spiderman and Iron Man for a $10
\nfee.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy main goal this year is to get people to donate on line at www.bigchills.ca<\/a>,\u201d explained Jonas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cI get so much support from my sponsors,\u201d he acknowledged. \u201cWe’ll be giving
\nout Crayola comic books from Disney
\nwith Pixar makers, comic books from
\nCapitaine Qu\u00e9bec and Oasis fruit juice.
\nLego Canada is involved, and Reno D\u00e9pot
\nwas instrumental in helping me to build a guillotine. Likewise Canadian Tire.
\nMetro Plus Perrier-Martel in Laval is sup-
\nplying candy and chips for the thousands
\nof kids we expect. Party Experts, Wal-Mart, Charisma real estate, Cuisinox and
\nBig Shots marketing have also pitched in.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Now in its fifth year, Jonas has had to involve Securitas Canada to prevent vandalism.<\/p>\n

\u201cWithout a security guard, people
\nwould take the stuff that is there.\u201d<\/p>\n
