Laval police are asking anyone who
\nmight have witnessed a hit-and-run accident in Ste. Doroth\u00e9e last month to help
\nthem identify the driver.<\/p>\n

According to Laval police Const. Nathalie
\nLorrain, at about 5:45 p.m., Sept. 14, a
\nsouthbound white Nissan Sentra\u2014possibly
\na 2002 model\u2014crossed into the oncoming
\nlane of Mont\u00e9e Champagne, north of Cl\u00e9roux Boulevard about a kilometre from
\ndes Bois Avenue, and struck a 42-year-old
\ncyclist.<\/p><\/div>\n

\n
\n\u201cThe driver was looking at a black object
\nthat he was holding in the air with his
\nhand, and appeared to be texting,\u201d she said.
\n\u201cThe cyclist left the road, trying to avoid a
\ncollision, but was he struck by the car\u2019s side
\nmirror and collapsed at the side of the
\nroad.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cyclist was severely injured,\u201d Const.
\nLorrain continued. \u201cHe was treated for broken ribs, a broken hip, a fractured collar-bone and bruising all over his body.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n Police describe the driver as a white
\nmale, about 40 years old.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe force of the impact probably broke
\nthe driver\u2019s side mirror,\u201d Const. Lorrain
\nconjectured.<\/p>\n

Laval police are urging anyone who has
\ninformation that will help in this investigation to call their information hotline [450]
