Police are taking action to reduce the
\nnumber of injuries to pedestrians on
\nLaval streets.<\/p>\n

During the first eight months of 2012,
\npolice reported 79 pedestrian accidents,
\nsix involving serious injuries.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s an increase of 14 per cent from
\n2011, on an annual basis.<\/p>\n

So, from Nov. 12-23, Laval police have
\nplaced large round markers on the sidewalks at the city\u2019s 15 busiest intersections, to remind pedestrians and
\nmotorists to pay close attention to the
\nrules of the road.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt this time of year, we have to be
\neven more prudent, because it gets dark
\nmuch earlier and it\u2019s much harder to see
\nyou, especially if you\u2019re wearing dark
\nclothes,\u201d Const. Natalie Lorrain told The
\nSuburban.
\n<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s important not just for pedestrians, but motorists as well to be aware of
\nthe danger.\u201d<\/p>\n

The city has already erected a fence on
\nthe median near Montmorency CEGEP,
\nwhere jaywalking was rife.<\/p>\n

\u201cWherever we see a problem, we
\nadjust and the city acts,\u201d noted Const.
\nLorrain.<\/p>\n

The 15 Laval intersections police pinpointed as prone to pedestrian accidents
