Scientists will continue clinical research work in Laval <\/b><\/i> <\/p>\n

French pharmaceutical multinational<\/a> Sanofi<\/a> announced, Jan. 8, that it plans to \u201ctransition\u201d 19 members of its clinical research team in Laval to an American firm. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey will continue to work with us, and some will remain on the premises,\u201d Sanofi spokeswoman Joanne Kennedy reassured The Suburban<\/i> in an interview. \u201cThey will be working for a different employer, and their work will be managed by a third party.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cSanofi decided to look at how to work more efficiently in all our different business units and at how we run our clinical trials globally,\u201d she explained. \u201cThat led to a decision to work with a preferred vendor,\u201d Kennedy continued. \u201cWe wanted to ensure that our employees have the opportunity to work for this organization.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sanofi is known for its diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular treatments. She explained that the scientific staff affected \u201cwork in all variety of our different research trials and areas.\u201d <\/p>\n

The Suburban<\/i> has learned that the third party firm is Research Pharmaceutical Services<\/a> (RPS), a multinational corporation based in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania. RPS’ North American operations are headquartered in downtown Montreal<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Kennedy added that Sanofi is still on track next month to move into the new office tower<\/a>. that it is constructing in Laval’s biotech city. The February move will also affect some 40 employees in St. Laurent <\/a>who produce the company’s cosmeceutical product lines. <\/p>\n

The company has, for the past 43 years, operated under various names in older facilities in Laval’s industrial park. <\/p>\n

\u201cFor our pharmacy business, Sanofi employs about 450 people across Canada, 350 of whom are in Laval,\u201d Kennedy concluded.<\/p><\/div>\n
