Members of the Chomedey’s Branch 251 of the Royal Canadian Legion will be holding a morning-long breakfast to mark its 50th anniversary, on Saturday, April 13.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to get the word out so that no one is disappointed,\u201d emphasized Legion spokesman Gilles Deschambeault. \u201cWe can only accommodate 150 people, and the event is already nearly half sold-out, without any publicity whatsoever.\u201d<\/p>\n

Deschambeault said that the breakfast will run from nine to noon and will feature a slide show of historic photos recounting club activities during its first half-century.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will also have on hand for people to examine the book recording the branch’s first meeting, Nov. 5, 1963,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The club’s membership of more than 200 includes some young, modern-day veterans of Afghanistan.<\/p>\n

Deschambeault added that the Chomedey Legion also plans a dance and supper to mark its semi-centennial, Oct. 5.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe expect to have special guests from outside Laval join us for that occasion,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, he urged those who wish to attend the April 13 breakfast to reserve without delay, either by visiting the branch’s premises at 2000 Cur\u00e9 Labelle, or by phoning 450-681-6722. <\/p>\n
