{"id":2039,"date":"2013-05-28T13:38:00","date_gmt":"2013-05-28T13:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rf.podcastfixit.com\/index.php\/2013\/05\/28\/public-trials-of-new-electric-bus-now\/"},"modified":"2015-06-01T19:41:50","modified_gmt":"2015-06-01T19:41:50","slug":"public-trials-of-new-electric-bus-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newscoverage.org\/index.php\/2013\/05\/28\/public-trials-of-new-electric-bus-now\/","title":{"rendered":"Public Trials of New Electric Bus Now Underway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>By Tracey Arial<\/b><\/p>\n<div>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesuburban.ca\/\">www.thesuburban.ca<\/a><\/div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\nQuebec\u2019s first standard-sized electric bus began operating in city streets in Laval last month and will continue its test run until August 25.<\/p>\n<p>Built by North Carolina company <a href=\"http:\/\/www.designlinecorporation.com\/\">DesignLine<\/a>, the new electric bus will be able to travel about 200 km or so before it needs to recharge for 6-8 hours, so it will take some experimenting to determine how best to integrate it into the system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf all tests prove conclusive, the new vehicle will be integrated into the STL\u2019s regular network starting this fall,\u201d says a statement from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stl.laval.qc.ca\/lang\/en\/\">Societ\u00e9 de transport de Laval<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The current electric bus test project will cost a total of $2 million, including the $900,000 vehicle price-tag.<\/p>\n<p>The electric bus will operate on various routes during the trial, but several public displays have also been organized. The first ones took place at terminus Cartier.
