The City of Laval has commenced major work on Boulevard des Laurentides between Piron Street and Turcot, in the Auteuil district, in an effort to improve underground pipes in the area.<\/p>\n

The project, which began June 3, is expected to be complete by the end of August, just in time for the back-to-school period. The city will close off three of four lanes on des Laurentides between Provence and des Perron.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis rehabilitation work will allow the correction of the outdated sewer line and will preserve the network integrity by replacing [fresh water lines],\u201d Laval communications officer V\u00e9ronique Pharand said.<\/p>\n

According to Pharand, this project was planned four years ago to maintain the quality of the service in the district. The city plans to upgrade its underground water works step by step.<\/p>\n

Three years ago, the southern section of the des Laurentides sewer line was replaced.<\/p>\n

In the meantime, the southbound lane will be maintained at all times. Northbound motorists are advised to follow the detour signs along de Provence and des Perron. Local access will be maintained solely via des Laurentides south.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to start this project in the summer, because statistics show that during the summer, there is 10 percent less traffic than during the rest of year” Pharand said.<\/p>\n

In the area where the project will take place, appropriate signage will be installed for further guidance.<\/p><\/div>\n
