Laval police said that they found juvenile pornography on the computer of Chomedey resident Jonathan Moindon, 33, whom they arrested May 23, after they raided his Jarry Street home.<\/p>\n

According to Const. Franco di Genova, a tip from Interpol\u2014the world’s largest international police information-sharing organization\u2014brought the alleged kiddie porn distributor to their attention. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe has no criminal background and was not known to us,\u201d he told The Suburban<\/i> in an interview. \u201cInterpol called the [RCMP’s] National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre (NCECC) and told them that they had identified an Internet address in Laval that was in possession of juvenile pornography and distributing videos.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe obtained a search warrant after NCECC informed us, and two Laval detectives, accompanied by patrol officers and a police computer expert, subsequently visited the suspect’s home,\u201d said Const. di Genova. \u201cIt didn’t take long to find evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cInvestigators arrested Moindon and brought him in for questioning, where he admitted to downloading juvenile pornography,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

Moindon remained in custody overnight and was subsequently charged with distributing child pornography. If he is found guilty of the crime, he would face a minimum one-year and a maximum 10-year prison sentence.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was released from prison on condition that he not frequent any school, daycare, park or any other place where children are present,\u201d Const. di Genova added. \u201cHe also cannot use the Internet, have an Internet account, visit an internet caf\u00e9 or remain anywhere Internet service is provided.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moindon is slated to appear in court again, Aug. 20.<\/p>\n
