{"id":2012,"date":"2013-06-05T18:04:00","date_gmt":"2013-06-05T18:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rf.podcastfixit.com\/index.php\/2013\/06\/05\/mouvement-lavallois-demers-mulling\/"},"modified":"2015-06-01T19:41:49","modified_gmt":"2015-06-01T19:41:49","slug":"mouvement-lavallois-demers-mulling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newscoverage.org\/index.php\/2013\/06\/05\/mouvement-lavallois-demers-mulling\/","title":{"rendered":"Mouvement lavallois: Demers mulling mayoralty race"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>By Robert Frank<\/b><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesuburban.com\/\">www.thesuburban.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A 30-year veteran of the Laval police force who once served a search warrant on his employer, former mayor Gilles Vaillancourt, is reportedly contemplating running for his former boss\u2019 job and will lead the Mouvement Lavallois\u2019 campaign for municipal office when Laval citizens go to the polls again, Nov. 3.<\/p>\n<p>Marc Demers twice ran for the <i>Parti qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois<\/i> in Laval des Rapides riding during provincial elections in 2007 and 2008, but was defeated each time by Liberal Alain Paquet. During last years\u2019 provincial campaign, Quebec premier Pauline Marois sidelined Demers so she could run star youth candidate L\u00e9o Bureau-Blouin in Laval des Rapides.<\/p>\n<p>Demers joined Mouvement Lavallois in November. Founded by David de Cotis in 2008, mayoral candidate Lydia Aboulian led the municipal poitical party\u2019s candidates into the most recent municipal election in 2009.
