Sylvie Clermont resigned, May 30, from her position as city councillor for Laval’s St. Vincent de Paul district.<\/p>\n

Clermont’s letter of resignation was tendered during the ensuing city council meeting, the following Monday, June 3. In the letter, she cited \u201chealth\u201d as the reason for her resignation.<\/p>\n

Clermont did not respond to The Suburban’s<\/i> requests for her to make a comment about her departure.<\/p>\n

Clermont was named to the city’s executive committee in November 2012, joining other executive committee members Alexandre Duplessis, Beno\u00eet Fradet, Basile Angelopoulos and Jocelyne Guertin. <\/p>\n

Both Fradet and Angelopoulos\u2014two long-time Laval councillors\u2014announced in April that they will not be running for office in the next Laval election.<\/p>\n

Clermont is the daughter of Maurice Clermont, the former Liberal Member of Parliament for Mille \u00celes who was also a city councillor from 1981-2001 and Laval’s leader of the opposition from 1985-1997.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
