Aglaia Revelakis might not have run for public office before, but she has been immersed in political life since before she was old enough to vote. <\/p>\n

\u201cI got involved in politics when I was 16 years old,\u201d Action Laval\u2019s candidate for municipal councilor in Chomedey district told The Suburban<\/i> in an interview. <\/p>\n

\u201cIn those days, there was no permanent electoral list,\u201d she recalled. \u201cWe went door to door to register people.\u201d<\/p>\n

From there, Revelakis went on to link up with a succession of other political protagonists, working for the likes of Michel Dupuis and Thomas Mulcair.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a matter of fact, I\u2019m currently the vice-president of the federal Liberal party association for Laval les \u00celes riding,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019ve organized a lot of campaigns, and worked for Mary Deros in the Montreal municipal campaign in Park Extension.\u201d<\/p>\n

Revelakis is also intimately involved with Laval\u2019s burgeoning Greek population, and spent a decade working for the Hellenic Community of Laval from 1986-1996.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was time for me to take the plunge this time around, and I decided that I wanted to help the citizens of Laval,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

\u201cChomedey has a very diverse population, which makes it very interesting,\u201d she noted. \u201cEvery community has special needs and I will be meeting with every single group in Chomedey district to learn what specifically needs to be addressed.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cFor example, there are not many services available for seniors who live in Laval,\u201d continued Revelakis, who is manager of the Manoir Laval residence, home to more than 100 elderly Laval citizens. \u201cLaval\u2019s population is aging, and we need to do more for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n<\/a><\/div>\n
\nMayoral candidate Jean-Claude Gob\u00e9 announced, June 12, that Aglaia Revelakis will be the Action Laval party candidate in Chomedey district during upcoming municipal elections. <\/b><\/div>\n
