{"id":1873,"date":"2013-08-07T18:20:00","date_gmt":"2013-08-07T18:20:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rf.podcastfixit.com\/index.php\/2013\/08\/07\/laval-firm-recalls-sesame-paste-after\/"},"modified":"2015-06-01T19:41:43","modified_gmt":"2015-06-01T19:41:43","slug":"laval-firm-recalls-sesame-paste-after","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newscoverage.org\/index.php\/2013\/08\/07\/laval-firm-recalls-sesame-paste-after\/","title":{"rendered":"Laval firm recalls sesame paste after salmonella scare"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>By Robert Frank<\/b><br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesuburban.com\/\">www.thesuburban.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Clic International has voluntarily recalled three of its tahina (sesame paste) products produced in Lebanon, because they might be contaminated with salmonella bacteria.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), no one has thus far fallen ill after consuming these products, which were sold in Quebec and Ontario.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFood contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled,\u201d the federal food regulator said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsumption of food contaminated with these bacteria may cause salmonellosis, a foodborne illness,\u201d CFIA explained. \u201cIn young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems, salmonellosis may cause serious and sometimes deadly infections.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn otherwise healthy people, salmonellosis may cause short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
