According to a report released on Monday by Journal de Montreal,<\/i> the Pointe Claire based company Reliance Power Equipment has been illegally storing some of its stock that is laced with PCBs.<\/p>\n

The company’s website noted that its main function “involves the repairing, reconditioning, modifying, remanufacturing, renting and reselling of used electrical power equipment.”<\/p>\n

The site also explained that the Reliance Power Equipment, in the last four decades, has “accumulated an extensive and comprehensive array of complete units and replacement parts on our premises.”<\/p>\n

The Journal report also noted that the company has been storing the PCB laced transformers for more than a decade without the consent of the city of Pointe Claire or the Ministry of Environment and that the company has been given a week to safely and properly get rid of the offending materials.<\/p>\n

As of press time, no charges towards the company had yet been filed.<\/p>\n
