Laval will hold its 40th annual blood donor clinic at the city\u2019 sports centre at 955 Bois de Boulogne, on Friday, Sept. 6. <\/p>\n

Last year\u2019s drive drew 884 Laval residents\u2014nearly 150 of whom were first-time donors. Organizers claim it\u2019s the single largest blood donor clinic in a single location in Canada. <\/p>\n

The clinic will open at 10 a.m. and close at 6 p.m.. Laval Mayor Martine Beaugrand will be on hand to encourage citizens to give the gift of life at the city\u2019s sports centre at 955 Bois de Boulogne. <\/p>\n

\u201cShe should be there between 10:30 and noon,\u201d Laval director of communication Nadine Lussier told The Suburban.<\/i> Each year, the city breaks records for the amount of blood collected. It estimates that last year\u2019s draw alone helped to save more than 3,500 lives. <\/p>\n

Nonetheless, city officials indicated that only three percent of Quebecers take the trouble to give blood.<\/p>\n

Members of the public are also invited to enter a contest designed to encourage participation.<\/p>\n

Those who invite five of their friends to the blood clinic will be eligible to win an evening out on the town for 10: supper at ZIBO! In Centropolis, followed by a show at Salle Andr\u00e9 Mathieu and a tea-tasting at David\u2019s Tea.<\/p>\n

Prospective participants can enter and learn more about the blood draw by visiting the Community Life section of the city\u2019s website www.ville.laval.qc.ca and clicking on the Collecte de sang des lavallois<\/i> link.<\/p>\n
