Independent Mayoral Candidate Jacques Fourcher has outlined his vision for the future of the City\u2019s administration, and at its heart is a systemic breakdown in communication across all levels. In an interview with The Suburban,<\/i> the independent candidate commented \u201cthe problem is not only communication with citizens, but also between different parties and various elected officials.\u201d <\/p>\n

Early campaign discussions have focused around the mayoral candidates with political parties not the independent candidate Foucher who has now begun to hint at what may differentiate his platform from others. As he puts it \u201cthere is a shield around the administration which prevents outsiders from looking in. Until something like Charbonneau comes along to take out the shield you are left with a big problem. I want to put holes in that shield.\u201d<\/p>\n

While he states that his main goal would be to reorganize the communication, this would begin with a large scale consultation of citizens and government departments. Foucher talks of making peace with government employees in order to ascertain exactly where the breakdown in communication happens. Speaking of Duplessis\u2019 short-lived mayoral career he comments \u201cit was clear that he didn\u2019t have enough information to make good decisions.\u201d <\/p>\n

Foucher\u2019s vision for a future communications strategy is something akin to a modern company, and he plans to bring Laval into the 21st Century using rapid responses to the complaints and comments of citizens. When discussing how his ideal he mentioned \u201cwhen a client uses Bombardier\u2019s services, they will often feel as though there is no other business which could have done the job as well as them. This is what I want citizens to feel when they discuss issues with the council.\u201d<\/p>\n
