In a rare respite for a Quebec legislature routinely riven by divisive debate, Chomedey MNA Guy Ouellette rose in the National Assembly last week to recognize the non-partisan con- tribution that Centre du Sablon<\/a> has made to the Laval community during the past two decades. <\/p>\n

\u201cFounded in 1993 under the guidance of Chomedey district city Councillor Savas Fortas, the facility fosters sports, cultural and community activities for the whole family at affordable prices,\u201d he told fellow legislators, Sept. 18. \u201cIt’s a favourite focal point for Chomedey residents and welcomes the entire Laval community into a milieu where people of all ages, backgrounds and nationalities can intermingle.”<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n
\nOuellette congratulated the nine members of Sablon’s board, as well as its founders and former leaders, including the current president, Brian Tracey, “for their tremendous work and tireless devotion to the community.”<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n“I also want to thank Sablon CEO Pierre Fontaine and his team for their engagement in the community life of our region, which merits our admiration and encouragement,” he added.<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n
\n“Finally, I want to thank Sablon members, without whom the centre would not exist,” Ouellette concluded. “Here’s hoping that your membership will continue to increase.”<\/div>\n
