Laval will once again hold its traditional compost event this Saturday, September 28 , at the composting site at 4026 Dagenais in Chomedey. <\/p>\n

The event will take place from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. or while supplies last. <\/p>\n

On this day exclusively for Laval residents, proof of residency is required, the city offers compost at the following prices, either: $2 per bag of 15 kg, or $20 per cubic meter of compost in bulk.<\/p>\n

Also in bulk, but without costs, chips will also be accessible to interested gardeners, provided that they have their shovels and containers. <\/p>\n

The nutrients in compost such as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium make it an excellent natural fertilizer. <\/p>\n

During fall, the compost should be spread on the ground. For clay soils, it\u2019s recommended to put in large amounts. By the following spring, the soil will already have received considerable nutritional value.<\/p>\n

For those who wish to use the compost in their flowerbeds, it is recommenced by the city to mix the soil and then cover with mulch to keep the nutrients in the soil . For more tips and advice, visit the city\u2019s website<\/a>. <\/p>\n

If residents are interested in making compost at home, the city offers citizens a grant of $50 to purchase a backyard compositor. For full details of this grant program, visit the city\u2019s website under environment tab\/activities and programs.<\/p><\/div>\n
