The West Island Assistance Fund (W.I.A.F), first created in 1966; has been assisting people in need for over forty-five years. Their visionary goal being the \u201cElimination of food and economic insecurity in the West Island, while supporting self-sufficiency…\u201d <\/p><\/div>\n

The program is part thrift store, food bank and used furniture store. According to W.I.A.F spokespersons, the organization offers their clients food, \u201cWhenever the need arises.\u201d Dispensing over $300,000 worth of services on an annual basis, the assistance fund also provides furniture, household goods, and clothing to those who are unable to afford such commodities.<\/div>\n

W.I.A.F has also been organizing the distribution of Christmas baskets for the West Island region since 2005.<\/p>\n

The organization helps any persons or families in need. This includes crisis situations such as fires, floods and other emergency circumstances in which people are lacking essential goods.<\/p>\n

Right now the W.I.A.F community is urgently seeking volunteers who will be able to offer a couple hours of their time or even just a day\u2019s work. Clothing contributions are also needed for the thrift store.<\/p><\/div>\n
