Citizens of the West Island’s smallest city, Dorval Island, won’t be going to the polls, Nov. 3. <\/p>\n

That’s because the tiny municipality’s entire city council was returned by acclamation. <\/p>\n

After the deadline for submitting nominations to Elections Quebec ended at the close of business, Oct. 4, there was only one candidate for each elected post, whom the Municipal Affairs Ministry has declared acclaimed. <\/p>\n

Mayor Gis\u00e8le Chapleau will be returning for another term, as will District 1 councilor Louis Beauregard, District 2 Councilor James Fee, District 3 Councilor Michael Hayes and District 4 Councilor Andrew Kabbash. <\/p>\n

Newcomers Susan Aubertin and Andr\u00e9-Philippe Pelletier were also acclaimed to council seats in District 5 and District 6, respectively. <\/p>\n

Accessible only by ferry or other watercraft, Dorval Island has only five permanent residents, according to the 2011 census. The leafy municipality is located in Lake St. Louis, just south of the city of Dorval. <\/p>\n

Most of its additional population consists of summer cottagers who\u2014as taxpaying property owners\u2014are entitled to vote in the city’s elections. However, they are not classified as permanent residents.<\/p>\n
