Beaconsfield resident Tom Quinn received the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award in Quebec City, Oct. 4. <\/p>\n

The Rt. Hon. David Johnston officially presented the certificate during a ceremony at the historic Citadelle. <\/p>\n

Quinn earned the distinction for his support of amateur sport. <\/p>\n

He has served as a member of the Canada Games Council since 2006, and has presided over its board of directors since 2009. <\/p>\n

\u201cQuinn is a passionate and tireless volunteer,\u201d the Governor General’s office said in a statement. <\/p>\n

\u201cUnder his watch, the Canada Games have become a source of inspiration for young athletes from across the country as well as a proving ground for the next generation of international competitors.\u201d <\/p>\n

Created in 1995, the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award recognizes living Canadians and permanent residents who have made a significant, sustained, unpaid contribution to their community, in Canada or abroad. <\/p>\n
