The voting preferences of Chomedey\u2019s large Greek community will have an important influence on determining who will serve as the district\u2019s next city councillor in the upcoming election, Nov. 3. <\/p>\n

The Suburban<\/i> called all of the district\u2019s four candidates for city council to ask whether they thought that the three female Greek candidates might split Chomedey\u2019s Greek vote, permitting Option Laval\u2019s candidate Tony Valente to gain office. <\/p>\n

Patricia Lagopatis, who is running for Parti au service du citoyen,<\/i> says that the gender of the candidates will not, in her opinion, influence voters. <\/p>\n

\u201cFor sure, when you have three Greek candidates, it will split the vote,\u201d she acknowledged. \u201cBut it\u2019s really not a matter of male versus female or nationality. It\u2019s also the party, the platform and the background of the individual that will make the difference.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cPeople should look at the candidates\u2019 credentials,\u201d encouraged Action Laval candidate Aglaia Revelakis. <\/p>\n

She said that Laval residents should examine the candidate\u2019s qualifications as well as those of the party that he or she represents. <\/p>\n

Having spoken to many Chomedey citizens while going door to door, Mouvement lavallois<\/i> candidate Stella Tzinsis observed that people are confused by too little information about too many parties. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s my first time in politics, and I have no idea what the outcome of vote will look like,\u201d she admitted. \u201cI think what really matters is to have a connection with the candidate. It helps tremendously to be Greek when running in Chomedey, but it is really not the only thing. What\u2019s important is to really know Chomedey, to be well aware of the specifics of the neighborhood.\u201d <\/p>\n
