The city of Hudson’s mayoral race had two contenders: Jacques Bourgeois and Ed Pr\u00e9vost who has called Hudson home for the last nine years and has been given the next four year mandate to serve as the city’s new mayor. <\/p>\n

Pr\u00e9vost took the contest with 75 percent of all eligible votes, defeating Bourgeois 1,448 to 464 votes. Forty-seven percent of possible electors went to the ballot box.<\/p>\n

The mayor noted that if the city had been running smoothly and efficiently, he “would not be running.”<\/p>\n

Pr\u00e9vost plans to readily consult the electorate on issues affecting Hudson as “we need to develop a new era of trust, honest debate, and complete transparency. There is a fine line between negative and constructive criticism and we need more of the latter.” <\/p>\n

Former District 4 councillor in St. Lazare, Michael Lambert, was hoping to beat incumbent Mayor Robert Grimaudo, running as part of Alliance St. Lazare but Grimaudo held onto his post with a decisive 2,786-1,852 margin.<\/p>\n

Grimaudo defeated former mayor Paul Carzoli in a byelection a year and a half ago. Grimaudo has run his two campaigns by not using any paper, a concept he follows as a way to soften his environmental footprint. <\/p>\n

Thirty-four percent of constituents, 4,638 residents out of 13,850 possible votes, cast ballots. <\/p><\/div>\n
