Hot on the heels of a visit by a group of site locaters who help American corporations find places in Canada to set up shop, the Technopole last week published Laval\u2019s first comprehensive guide to the city\u2019s huge commercial property potential. <\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s still some 25 million square feet of space available here for industrial, office and retail development,\u201d Leblanc reported \u201cNearly a third of that already has municipal services [such as fresh water and sewage lines] available to it.\u201d <\/p>\n
Fastest growth in decades<\/b><\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n
\nLeblanc\u2014who has spent the past 28 years of his career promoting development in Quebec\u2019s third-largest city\u2014has witnessed most of Laval\u2019s remarkable transformation first-hand. He observed that today\u2019s pace of growth has generated vigorous economic growth on a scale that he hasn\u2019t seen in decades.<\/p>\n
\u201cLaval is booming on the office side,\u201d he enthused. \u201cThree new office towers are currently under construction. We haven\u2019t seen cranes building three new towers at once in 20 years.\u201d<\/p>\n
The city\u2019s economy is so strong that the lion\u2019s share of the capital poured into Laval is self-generated, LeBlanc noted.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn average, 80-85 per cent of new investment in Laval\u2019s industrial sector is made by companies that are already based here,\u201d he observed. \u201cThat helps a lot. We are blessed with some very interesting, very dynamic business owners who have already prospered and want to grow. We also have an extremely strong base of locally based entrepreneurs whom we promote, on which Laval\u2019s economy can build.\u201d<\/p>\n
Leblanc said that Laval\u2019s commercial real estate guide, which his team took six months to compile, will help to attract outside investors who whose investment will further increase the city\u2019s burgeoning economic growth.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt answer the technical questions that site locators, international traders and promoters ask when they visit,\u201d he explained. \u201cIt lays out the advantages of locating in Laval, where to do so and how much it will cost.\u201d<\/p>\n
Translators are currently in the final stages of reviewing an English version of the guide, which LeBlanc said ought to be available within the next few weeks.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe promote Laval all around the world,\u201d he concluded. <\/p><\/div>\n
