Fabre\u2019s representative in Quebec City took time last week to recognize a family that has tilled the Sainte Doroth\u00e9e soil for more than 83 years.<\/p>\n

\u201cMadame Speaker, I rise today to congratulate Lise and Jean-Marc Lacroix and their son and daughter-in-law G\u00e9rald Lacroix and Linda Lacoste, who were awarded the Order of Agricultural merit, during a regional gala at the Sheraton Laval, Oct. 1,\u201d Gilles Ouimet told fellow members of the National Assembly, Nov. 26. \u201cSince 1890, the Order of Agricultural Merit has singled out the accomplishments of the women and men who have shaped Quebec\u2019s bio-food sector.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Lacroix family has deep roots in St. Antoine, the Sainte Doroth\u00e9e district where, since 1929, they have operated a family farm in the heart of my riding,\u201d he told provincial legislators. \u201cBesides growing more than 50 varieties of vegetables there, they also cultivate more than 400 varieties of annual flowers. At the height of harvest times, their firm employs more than 30 people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very proud to express my appreciation for a family that has, for so many years, laboured to deliver quality produce to their fellow citizens,\u201d Ouimet concluded. \u201cI offer my sincere compliments to Mr. and Mrs. Lacroix and their family for their important contribution to the economic growth of our region.\u201d<\/p>\n
