As the city\u2019s population grows, dispatching police cruisers from Laval\u2019s lone police post on St. Martin increasingly can entail delays in responding to 911 calls in some of parts of \u00cele J\u00e9sus, Laval\u2019s new police chief told The Suburban.<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cIt can cause problems in covering all of Laval when all deployments originate from a single location,\u201d said Chief Pierre Brochet.<\/p>\n

As a result, the city is moving forward with the construction of a second police station on Labelle in Chomedey, sought of Highway 440.<\/p>\n

The station will be built on the site that formerly housed Chomedey Ford, and will ought to be complete by 2017, at the latest, said Chief Brochet.<\/p>\n

The new police post is part of the city\u2019s development plan.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe city needs to reflect how its police service will to support the growth that Laval is currently enjoying,\u201d said Chief Brochet, \u201cconsistent with the economic and financial context.\u201d <\/p>\n
