Pierrefonds-Roxboro Mayor Jim Beis opened Roxboro district centennial celebrations, Feb. 1, with toast to all the volunteers who contributed to the planning of the full year lineup of activities.<\/p>\n

He praised his predecessors who founded and built Roxboro with a vision of urban and economic development.<\/p>\n

The opening ceremonies festivities included a historical photo display of archived photos, a barbecue, tire sur neige, <\/i>sleigh rides and skating under the stars.<\/p>\n

\n
\nThe upcoming year will be packed with events. Multicultural day at the end of March promises a wide range of culinary tastes provided by the local businesses.<\/p>\n
\n
\nJuly 1 will feature the annual Canada Day parade with dignitaries, police and firefighters and, in August, Roxboro Day will host a parade of antique cars, inflatables and street-hockey games.<\/p>\n

Oyster day and a tribute to seniors in October will lead the Roxboro community to the closing ceremonies. <\/p>\n
