More than 100 women gathered on Feb 16 at Towne Hall restaurant in Dollard des Ormeaux to celebrate friendship, dance and support the West Island Cancer Wellness Centre (WICWC). The all-women annual event raised over $25,000 for the Centre. <\/p>\n

Palm readers, tarot-card readers and salsa lessons from Baila Productions were part of the entertainment. Lori Graham of CTV was the emcee. <\/p>\n

Local firemen\u2014who were a little late arriving this year due to an emergency\u2014have always been a highlight and once again did not disappoint. They sold raffle tickets and served the ladies drinks.<\/p>\n

Debbie Magwood and Jill Boileau, who founded the organization in 2009, said that WICWC aims to empower people with cancer by providing them with compassionate support as well as comprehensive information for mind, body, and spirit. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe total raised was a little over $25,000 and in today’s difficult economy, with people scaling back on their spending, we couldn’t be happier,\u201d said WICWC marketing and communications coordinator Serena Chenoy. \u201cWe are also very appreciative of all the donated raffle items that we received and the companies that helped sponsor the event: Sanofi Canada, Customized Homecare, Bayshore Healthcare and Pharmaprix.\u201d
