Nelligan MNA wants to spend time with family<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Less than 24 hours after Robert-Baldwin MNA Pierre Marsan held a press conference announcing he was leaving politics, journalists and well wishers assembled at Nelligan MNA Yolande James’ offices, where she too announced her political life was coming to an end after a decade. <\/p>\n

Flanked by her West Island MNA colleagues Francois Ouimet of Marquette, Geoffrey Kelley of Jacques-Cartier and Marsan, the former Immigration and Families minister said that “she had taken a lot of time to reflect as life brought me an amazing gift last April, my son Philippe.”<\/p>\n

“Working as MNA for the riding was not just a privilege because I felt the citizens always had my back,” said James. “I grew up here, my family is here and now I want to raise my son here.” <\/p>\n

James acknowledged that being in Quebec City three days a week was taking its toll, being separated from her son. “Having a family changes your life and I did not want to make that sacrifice at this time,” said James.<\/p>\n

James thanked her family and the many riding association members who “give up their time with no pay, working day and night to make sure I could get elected.” She also credited the residents of Nelligan who “always work together to get things done as they are very dynamic people.”
