Anna C. celebrated her 60th birthday last Friday. She lives at the Cloverdale housing complex on Alexander Street in Pierrefonds. She suffers from serious health issues. She survives on $600 a month, with her mentally challenged son living with her on weekends. <\/p>\n

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) is ending its subsidized funding in October 2015. Anna receives $400 a month from this subsidy. Her monthly budget is affected as her medical bills add up to 35 per cent of money received.<\/p>\n

Anna has been forced to change apartments twice in the past five years, and will once again be moving as the building she is living in presently is being renovated. <\/p>\n

Her current apartment has walls and ceilings that leak, forcing Anna to continually replace bucket after bucket of waste water.<\/p>\n

The moisture and humidity are serious issues. Plumbers have inspected and advised there is nothing they can do. <\/p>\n

Anna was directed from the office that she will have to deal with the current situation until the month of August, when they will move her to another building. <\/p>\n

\u201cI will likely need to help her move again in October if she cannot afford the rent after the subsidy. She is aggravated from the moisture in her apartment. This treatment towards the low income individuals is unacceptable. I am sure my mother never imagined she would be living this way, as she enters her senior years,\u201d daughter Jennifer C. told The Suburban<\/i> from her Toronto home. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt is not a good situation. I don\u2019t know where I will end up. The City of Montreal indicated that a subsidy will come, but that could take up to a year. I don\u2019t know what is going to happen,\u201d said the dejected senior citizen.
