The AMT unveiled a new, more user-centered amt.qc.ca<\/a> website this week, aiming to gather in one place information about public transit in the greater Montreal area\u2014including all of Laval. <\/p>\n

One of the main changes is a new intermodal trip planner, accessible through the site\u2019s home page. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we asked people, one of the things that came back often was the need to be able to plan trips, on the entirety of the territory covered by the AMT. So that includes metro, trains and buses,\u201d Claudia Martin, spokesperson for the AMT, told The Suburban. <\/i><\/p>\n

Users will also find a tool to help determine the best type of ticket for their trip, and information on where they can purchase it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the first time this is done for the territory comprising the 83 municipalities served by the AMT,\u201d said Martin. <\/p>\n

Other new features are a section on the state of the network, including information about delays and line closures for the AMT, STM and STL, as well as a \u2018My AMT\u2019 section where users can create a profile and personalize their page according to their needs. <\/p>\n

The site is available for personal computers, tablets and Smartphones, but users will have to wait until summer 2014 for access to the English version. At this point, only the French site is ready for use. <\/p>\n

The initiative is part of AMT\u2019s 2020 plan, which aims to increase the number of public transit users in the greater Montreal area by 33 percent over the next six years, for a total of 640 million trips annually.
