A “radicalized” subculture existed among the ranks of officers at Montreal Police Station 39 in Montreal North, before it became public and led to what we have now: 16 officers disciplined amid allegations of racism and criminal misconduct; two officers suspended; three assigned desk duty; 11 officers relocated and a looming wider investigation.

• The Parti Québécois appears ready to form the next government and political analyst Tom Mulcair says that even strong federalists “…are preparing to roll the dice,” but “…it’s a bit of a dangerous game”; that “…the smart money would be on defeating the party that says it wants to hold a referendum that would be destructive socially and economically for Quebec and all of Canada.”
• The Parti Québécois says that improving the quality of food consumed by Quebecers, via a yet-to-be-formed “Qualité Québec” would see a label affixed on Quebec-produced goods that meet higher standards.
• The CAQ’s Christine Fréchette will focus on undecided voters from now on.
• The Quebec Liberal Party would maintain Bill 94, which prohibits school employees from wearing religious symbols.
• Voters in Greater Montreal, Quebec City and Sherbrooke will be able to use the Bixi and àVélo bike-sharing services for free, to go cast their ballots next Monday.

Indigenous leaders are reminding Quebec politicians that they will have to talk to them before even considering independence, citing historical land grievances.

There’s a video making the rounds among cardiac surgeons in Canada and worldwide of a surgical procedure that Quebec cardiologist Dr. Raja Hatem is one of the few qualified to perform. It was broadcast live from Montreal’s Sacré Cœur Hospital and shared with 150 cardiologists in Canada.
