Cannabis use in Quebec slowly declining

By Murray Sherriffs

Medical professionals say that people are digesting information in public education programs.

Dr. Romina Mizrahi, psychiatrist and director of the McGill Research Centre for Cannabis says that there was a lot of hype when cannabis was legalized, but that people have since reacted to education programs directed specifically at the young.

The Quebec Cannabis Survey, released this week, reveals 17% of people 15 and older used cannabis last year, a drop from 18% from the year previous.

That figure was at 14% before legalization in 2018, and 20% in 2021.
