The CAQ government has tabled Bill 19, which dramatically amends Bill 2, the law that was slammed by doctors and led many to leave the province, because of how it it changed how doctors are paid, imposed performance targets and threatened them with sanctions.

The Legault government’s proposed legislation to ban public prayer is too vague and could inflict unnecessary burdens on grieving families and municipal governments; so says the Fédération Québécoise des Municipalités which is worried that funeral processions and prayers at burials could be banned. The Association des Garderies Privées du Québec has accused Secularism Minister Jean-François Roberge of “silencing opponents” of his bill that expands the reach of secularism laws.
