As Coalition pour l’avenir du Québec ministers abandon the party ahead of the next election, Premier Legault says that the party which he’s leaving is more necessary than ever, slamming the Parti Québécois and its referendum idea as representative of economic instability and the Liberals who can’t be trusted to stop the decline of French in Montreal.

Quebec Liberal leadership candidate Charles Millard now has the support of all members of the Liberal caucus, in his drive to lead the party.

The Canadian Federation of Independent Business, via Léger marketing, has learned that 59% of Quebecers do not trust the Legault government to manage the economy well.

Months of discussions have resulted in Quebec receiving a billion federal dollars that will go to municipalities to develop and modernize infrastructure for new housing projects such as drinking water, wastewater and storm water systems which will total $6 billion in the coming decade.

Chinatown residents and merchants are crying NIMBY: They do not want a social housing project for homeless people in their area, arguing that the neighbourhood is already a “dumping ground” and at risk of becoming “homelesstown.”

Raids by the Sûreté du Québec, Quebec City police and police in Lévis, Longueuil and Mirabel targeting the Hells Angels, have seen several people arrested.

The trial has begun of 46-year-old Alexandre Garcés, charged with stabbing an interpreter in the Longueuil courthouse two years ago. Garcés is defending himself on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon.

Waking up in the middle of the night is sooooo frustrating. You might start thinking of how much more you could done with your life, what you should have said to that moron who demeaned you at work. And the harder that you try, the more you wake up. Neuroscientist Andrew Huberman has been looking at the link between the brain, breathing and stress and says that waking overnight triggers a mild stress response, making the brain more alert. He says the fastest way back to slumberland is not forcing rest, but sending the nervous system a clear signal that it’s safe to switch off. Try just keeping your eyes closed and slowly move them side to side; focus on long, extended inhales and exhales; and allow the body to relax. The goal is to calm the nervous system, reduce arousal and lower stress signals in the brain.
