Longevity expert, Doctor Peter Attia says most people experience a steep decline in their 70s, but it doesn’t have to be that way. The Stanford-trained physician says that at age 75, men and women fall off a cliff. He says there are simple ways to live longer, stronger, healthy, engaged and independent. Stop smoking (if you do), drink less (if you can), lose weight, exercise, avoid processed foods and adopt good sleep habits. He recommends 10 hours a week of exercise; a mix of fat-burning cardio, high-intensity intervals and strength training to maintain muscle. Eat twice the protein recommended in nutritional guidelines. Emotional and mental health are just as important as physical health, Attia. A common denominator among super-agers involves a supportive community, a healthy social environment and regular contact with people who care for one another.
