A panicked driver caused an 11-car pileup—the kind normally reserved for highway tailgaters—at the Lakeshore General Hospital parking lot, Feb. 16.

“It wasn’t rage,” Const. Hélène Jubinville of Montreal Police Station 5 told The Suburban. “The lady was stressed.”

“At 11:37 a.m., when she approached the kiosk at the gate to the parking lot, someone honked at her,” she said in an interview. “She thought that her vehicle transmission was in park, but it went forward and subsequently struck 11 cars.”

Const. Jubinville said that the woman was treated for non-life-threatening injuries to her leg.

“No one in any of the other vehicles was hurt,” she added.

Police are treating the collisions as an accident.

“No charges were laid,” Const. Jubinville concluded.
