Last week Broccolini Limited Partnership Nº 2 and Magil Laurentian Realty Investments announced that they had partnered up to acquire the more than 50-acre Merck campus, renaming the site Quartier Évolution.

The expansive Kirkland complex had been empty since the end of 2010 after the company announced that in July, Merck Canada would be closing the research facility.

The large site boasts as much as 400,000 sq.ft. available for office space as well as almost half that space usable for laboratory research and more than 100,000 sq.ft. for a data centre. The two companies plan to make the Quartier Évolution an ideal spot for a company’s head or regional office, a research or manufacturing facility. The space currently has a 200 seat auditorium as well as cafeteria with quick access to and from Highway 40.

“Tenants will be well served by these unique facilities,” said Paul Broccolini, executive vice-president for Broccolini said via press release. “Furthermore, they will benefit from a myriad of services and infrastructure at a cost that could not be replicated in a new facility.”
