Any would be politician running for office knows that earning the trust of the population is paramount to success, key endorsements can go a long way and for Patrick Whitham, longtime commissioner for the Lester B. Pearson School Board, the ward three candidate can count on Lachine Borough Mayor Claude Dauphin’s support in the upcoming Nov. 2 school board elections.

Whitham has been a commissioner in Lachine for the last 11 years and hopes to represent the constituents of Ward 3 encompassing Dorval and Lachine.

The longstanding commissioner has chaired a number of committees during his tenure including education and adult and vocational education.

“My primary role as a commissioner is to ensure that a quality public education program is available, while taking into consideration the best interests of the school board as a whole, along with its students and the local constituency I represent,” explained Whitham.

He said that he believes in “quality education for all” as well board transparency coupled with sound, fiscal management.

And while his two sons have already graduated from high school, Whitham believes that the coming school board elections across the province “are important to all, even those who do not have children presently enrolled in school.”
