Sept. 22, will once again be marked as car free day across Quebec. Laval is no exception. As in past years, Jacques Tétrault Street will be closed between de l’Avenir and Lucien Paiement for this year’s edition.

Between 10 a.m.-8 p.m. passersby can take part in the various activities offered such as:

• A happy hour featuring music, entertainment and a juice bar

• A friendly ball hockey game

• Test-drive an electric bicycle on a closed track

• A giant sized chess board

• Outdoor green reading at the educational rest area with picnic tables

• Outdoor yoga and Zumba sessions

The event is celebrated by over 100 million people around the world, and provides the opportunity for individual communities and citizens to proactively learn about the environmental, health and social issues that arise from cars.

The day also lends to considering other means of transportation, walking, cycling and even skateboarding. Carpooling is encouraged if it is imperative to use a car.
