Summer in your neighbourhood

The City of Laval has planned a slew of activities for families this summer in various neighbourhoods on the island. And the best part about it? They’re all free of charge. Here are our top three:

Neighbourhood Markets

From Ste. Rose to East Laval, be sure to check out these open air markets in place for the summertime.

“People will be able to find fresh and local produce,” says Caroline Jodoin of the City of Laval.

Sports

The City of Laval will lend some of its equipment and fields for those wishing to play among friends or family.

Whether it be tennis, soccer, football, Frisbee or even an introduction to skateboarding or break dancing, there’s sure to be something for everyone this summer. For those wishing something a little more organized, there will be recreational leagues for basketball, football and soccer hosting games throughout the summer.

“And we will also have thematic days where we’ll talk about drowning prevention at different pools across the city,” said Jodoin.

Movies In The Park

A special screening of Noah, the biblically inspired 2014 movie starring Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly and Emma Watson, will play in its English original version on July 23, at St. Maxime Park in Chomedey. Fruit Hunters, the 2012 feature documentary about exotic fruit cultivators will also play in English on Aug. 19, at the Yves Thériault Library.
