Construction madness will again disrupt overnight traffic in Laval.

According to spokeswoman Stéphanie Grimard, Transport Quebec plans to completely close the Pie IX Bridge. Workers will shut the south side at 10 p.m., July 9, and will close the northern side of the span by 10:30 p.m., while they do work on the Lévesque overpass.

They plan to reopen the bridge to traffic before rush hour at 5 a.m. the following morning.

Transport Quebec intends to follow the same timetable when it closes the bridge to traffic again tomorrow night, July 10.

Motorists will have to find an alternative route to get to their destinations during that period.

Transport Quebec will then move its closures up the road the following night, July 11, when it plans maintenance work on the ramp that links Pie IX with Lite Boulevard and Highway 440.

The closures there will again last through each night until July 14.

During the closure, the province’s highway authority said in a statement that westbound motorists will have to use St. Martin Boulevard Exit 11 (St. Martin-Vanier), Highway 19 North and Highway 440 East to get to their destinations.

Transport Quebec said that the work is part of construction project that started in April and ought to be complete by the end of this year.
