Free Lego toys on Tuesday, July 8

The first Tuesday of every month, the new Lego Store at Carrefour Laval offers children the opportunity to build a mini model and take it home. The mini-build begins at 5 p.m. and lasts until 7 p.m., or as long as supplies last.

The next one occurs on July 8.

During the event, a master-builder employee shows children how to build a 40-to 50-piece model.

“It takes the master builders about ten minutes to build a mini-model without the instructions,” says store supervisor, Michèle Sauvé. “Many of the children go ahead and build their toy without even watching for instructions. There are kids who are really fast and they’re going to find a way to build it without help.”

The first time the event took place in May, children were lined up to get into the store and parents worried that supplies of the miniature dragons would run out. In the end about 100-150 children took models home.

The store now sets three tables of ten with an employee at each one. That worked very well in June, when the store gave out little Jet Ski models.

On July 8, Sauvé says that there are enough supplies for 300 children to get a tiny dune buggy model.

“I love the people who come to the store because they all have a smile on their face,” said Sauvé. “Not everyone knows that Lego has retail outlets. It’s very cool.”
