Dorval giving away compost to residents
Residents of Dorval will be able to collect free compost as part of the city’s Environment and gardening Day taking place this Saturday, May 17 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
Gardeners are asked to bring their own containers and shovel for collection in the parking lot of the Dorval arena located at 1450 Dawson Avenue.
Wood chips will also be distributed free of charge as well as perennial plants being sold by the city’s Horticultural and Ecological Society. Information kiosks on a variety of topics including the availability of a paper shredder, composting and donating old bicycles to Club Vélo Dorval and SOS Vélo.

Trottier Family Foundation give $2.5 million to WIPCR
Last week, the West Island Palliative Care Residence held its annual breakfast fundraiser that earned almost $10,000 in one morning for the residence that must amass about three million every year in order to keep its 23 beds and staff up and running.
But now the residence can rejoice in a very generous donation by the Trottier Family Foundation, donating $2.5 million to the residence over the next five years, the single largest donation to the residence to date.
The WIPCR’s president of the board of directors, Dale Weil said “we are extremely grateful to Lorne and Louise Trottier and the Trottier Family Foundation for this very generous gift for the well-being of our West Island community.”
Louise Trottier, who is a volunteer board member of the residence, stated “the residence is a vital service to our community, helping patients and their families at a very difficult time by providing compassion and care that we all need and hope for when death is at hand.”
The Trottier Family Foundation made the very generous donation to coincide with National Hospice Palliative Care Week.
Sainte Anne de Bellevue holds plant sale to benefit Breast Cancer
This Saturday, May 17th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., a perennial plant sale will be taking place in Sainte Anne de Bellevue with the proceeds to support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
