On Wednesday, April 16 at 5 a.m., Laval police executed a major drug operation called Project Underground.

Three hundred police officers from eight jurisdictions dismantled a distribution and drug trafficking network. The operation targeted young people attending high school, CEGEP and university.

According to Const. Franco di Genova of the Laval police department, 36 warrants were served for locations in Laval, Montreal and seven other cities on the north and south shores of Montreal. Investigators arrested 27 suspects.

They seized thousands of party pills like ecstasy along with close to $440,000 in cash.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Sûreté du Québec Montreal, Greater Longueuil and St. Jérôme police services worked with the Laval police department anti-gang squad on the major undercover operation, which they began early in September 2013.

Investigators are asking members of the public who might be able to help if they can provide additional information about the case.

They said that all calls to the Laval Police tip line [450] 662-INFO (662-4636) will be treated confidentially. Citizens can also reach them by dialling 911 and mentioning file number LVL 130830-040.
