Laval Technopole announced last week that Laval based company Bone Structure will build a new building to house a resto-café in Lac Mégantic, Quebec.

Owner, Yannick Gagné intends to construct a new 3,000 sq.ft. resto-café which will replace the property that was incinerated—together with many of its patrons—in the tragic oil train derailment there last year.

He told local news outlets last week that he hoped the new site, which will feature a subterranean microbrewery, will be open by July 6, in time to feature prominent artists there for this summer’s tourist season.

The announcement went viral, with more than 100,000 visits to the resto-café’s Facebook page, soon after the announcement.

Bone Structure came up with its own design for light steel components that are used to construct buildings.

Its steel components are manufactured with the same technology that is used to cut machined parts for aircraft and automobiles.

It found a way permits construction of advanced, open structures without using a single nail, requiring no drilling and very few tools.

Bone Structure’s steel structure also permits designers to use a very large number of windows in the building, maximizing natural light for the folks inside.
